I live in Woolwich in the Royal borough of Greenwich. A long time resident (over 30 years),I have always had a keen interest in the history and heritage of the area, especially regarding its relationship to the River Thames. So it won't surprise you to learn that a couple of years ago I joined the Thames Discovery Programme to be a foreshore archaeologist! Also, I have always been a keen photographer, and find my current lifestyle affords many great opportunities for photography! The picture (by Nathalie Cohen) shows some of the great people I do archaeology on the foreshore with. They are members of the FROG (or Foreshore Recording and Observation Group), we record archaeology revealed by erosion on the foreshore, before further erosion strips it away.
